Skincare is personal. It’s much like your shot of espresso that awakens your spirit each morning. If it’s not done right, it just won’t work for you. Essentials should be packed with natural plant extracts and Mediterranean sea-sourced ingredients that leave your skin rejuvenated and moisturized.
We recently met with body-envy model, Nicholas Skidmore, to talk everything skincare and we happened to learn about the one kit he has to have consisting of three travel-friendly products: face cleanser, eye cream, and face moisturizer —Maapilim’s Good Face Day kit.
The Maapilim Good Face Day kit consists of three travel-friendly products: a face cleanser, eye cream, and moisturizer.
Lightly scented with Bergamot, Jasmine and Cedarwood, the face cleanser, infused with aloe vera is formulated to deeply remove impurities and dead skin cells without robbing the skin of its natural oil. This allows the moisturizer to do its job and properly hydrate.
Eye cream is an important skincare step that most men overlook. Though time consuming, it’s worth taking the extra step to penetrate your under eyes with a light cream that is made to soothe the delicate skin from irritation and puffiness. Maapilim’s Good Face Day eye cream also contains Vitamin C, an acid that repairs damaged skin and brightens dark spots.
On Struggling with Teenage Acne:
“Towards the end of eight grade into sophomore year of high school, I had a full face covered in acne. I did medical grade treatments that would just dry my face out and made my skin worse, but what really worked for me was drinking a lot of water and changing the way I eat”
On His Skincare Routine:
“I have oily skin and I work out a lot, so that alone makes my skin overproduce oil. I think I have always avoided putting any extra layer of product on my face to avoid the feeling of congested skin. But then I started using Maapilim’s Good Face Day kit in the morning and at nighttime right before bed. It has become a routine I am super excited about because the products make my skin feel good.
I usually start with my Aveeno Face Scrub, a product I have been using for five years now, then I follow up with the Maapilin Face Cleanser, then dab a bit of Eye Cream around my eye area, and finish off with the Face Moisturizer.
The products are lightweight, refined in texture and just feels really good on my skin. I had never tried an eye cream until Maapilim but I am pumped about it now. I travel all the time and sometimes I will get home and notice how visibly tired and dark my under eyes are. Heroin chic is in but it’s not for me, I want to keep my skin looking refreshed.”
On Finding the Products That Work For Him:
“I am 100% committed to the products that work for me — I’ve been using the same deodorant since I was 14, so after badly struggling with teenage acne, I became very specific about the products I put on my skin. They have to easily absorb into my skin without feeling heavy or like it is just sitting on my face. The main difference I have noticed is that the pores around my nose aren’t so big and exposed anymore [laughs]. Like, my pores really tightened and are less visible which is exciting.”
On Encouraging More Men to Embrace Skincare:
“Guys need to be more open about skincare. I would encourage them to indulge in a good skincare routine for themselves. Actually, I do think a lot of men have a skincare routine but they are too shy to talk about it. Maybe they think that girls will judge them if they talk to them about it, but my experiences have been the opposite of that. Whenever I tell a girl I have a skincare routine she is usually impressed to meet a guy who takes good care of his skin. I guess because it’s so rare.”
