The VMAs has built its reputation on its extraordinary TV moments as well as its influence on pop culture and we’ll admit, this year’s award ceremony was another to be noted and not just for the music.
Men’s Fashion was significant and momentous in a way it hadn’t felt like in the last few years. From streetwear to formal wear, grunge, and more diverse genres sharing , we were able to exalt a plethora of unforgettable looks.
Below, we have some of our favorite red carpet looks from the night.

We could all have a little more fun and we believe this is what Diplo was trying to tell us last night in this custom Ft. Lonesome outfit. Although a bit campy and over accessorized, what we love about the cream colored look is that it is very representative of the audacious fashion the VMAs is best known for.
Statement looks will always have our attention especially when worn with pride and Diplo currently has us on a trip.

If there’s one thing we appreciate here at BOND OFFICIAL, it’s a style icon who continues to evolve around the particular brand they’re known for. Lenny Kravitz is one of those people. A style icon in his own right.
Maybe for someone else, this particular Canadian tuxedo look would read as ‘loud’ or ‘try hard’ but for Lenny Kravitz, it all just seems very innate, relevant, and progressive. I mean, how many men do you know can pull off a golden halter top ?

Here, we have singer, songwriter, and rapper 6lack, in all black embracing elevated streetwear in a way that is as nostalgic as it is a throwback. We see a well tailored suit that does not exude any sort of formality because of its slightly oversized fit and light bedazzling.
Here at BOND OFFICIAL, we know 6lack to have a casual and understated sense of style so this lightly Spring/Summer 2020 suit from Sankuanz was a nice surprise.

Sequins… for the VMAs 2019 red carpet? Enchanting. This year, we’ve seen Lil Nas X flourish and come into his own as an artist and pop culture symbol. In the style department, he never fails to rise to the occasion - often featuring a signature style that highlights his country roots.
This shiny monochromatic number by Christian Cowan definitely in the diversifying of men’s fashion in mainstream culture, and it’s so well done. I mean, just look at the man down to the nails - not one styling strand is out of place.

In a time where male models are usually associated with a simplistic sense of style, seeing Juan Betancourt dazzle in a head to toe all white suit from BOSS reads as ‘unique and informed’ especially with the styling choice to stick to a two tone primary color palette. If you’re going to keep it simple and essential, this is how you do it.

What we love the most about Shawn’s look is the styling on the top half of the suit. The reveal of the tank top underneath the black sheer shirt is a styling trick we’ve seen so often this summer and we can’t get enough. It’s even more striking that he takes it up a notch with the David Yurman jewelry selection and placement. What a great call.

Lately, we’ve been seeing a resurgence of 90s hiphop and early 2000s references in music and in fashion. Shiny track suits, and shiny chains do not feel forced or inauthentic to the movement and Big Sean has given us a refreshing visual.
What we appreciate about this Ermenegildo Zegna XXX ensemble is that he seems to be paying homage to a very specific time in music and fashion. Think P. Diddy & Mase in ‘Breathe, Stretch, Shake’. With a look like this, it’s not about how “appropriate” it is, it is about representing an attitude that once pioneered the idea of what it means to have fun as an influential artist in Hip Hop.
