Taking inspiration from the Mediterranean coast, Marwidas’ collection immediately conjures a world filled with sunbathing beside azure blue seas, where people with sunkissed skin drink sparkling water like ambrosia. It is where the concept of the brand was born and where its influence is deeply rooted.
Everything Marwida creates is with the ocean in mind. Each swimwear garment is alive with its presence. “The mood board for our collection is the sea itself. The subtle patterns are inspired by different shapes of corals. Even the palette is drawn from colors found in the reefs of our ocean,” says Founder and Creative Director, Anders Caleo.
Every year, more than 12 million metric tons of plastic litter ends up in our oceans. It’s a statistic that’s hard to turn away from and one of the reasons why Marwida has injected sustainable practices into its DNA. Alongside the luxury brand’s favoured choice to minimise its production volumes and climate footprint, each garment is created from a tech material engineered from ocean plastics; some of which have been cleaned from Mediterranean shores.
Inside the core collection newly launched at Nordstorm, you’ll find a selection of Marwida’s classic recycled swim trunks in two of their signature prints; Coral, reminiscent of the Mediterranean reef, and Wave, symbolic of the coastal lifestyle.
The tides of fashion are slowly changing. Marwida is a brand that crafts the highest quality of swimwear from recycling 2.5 pounds of plastics per item. The idea that luxury fashion can be synonymous with eco-friendly is finally here. “[We are] taking a stand against over-consumption. We simply promote a quality lifestyle that involves timeless style, decadence and the love and respect for the ocean,” says CEO John Magner.
Let the sky be adorned with blue and the beaches sprinkled with people. Marwida is just in time for our American summer.
