COMMAS SS22 is for The man who occupies a world in which he knows what Occasions to dress for.

Luxury Australian label COMMAS took to the iconic Tamarama Beach to present their Spring Summer 2022 resort wear for Afterpay Australian Fashion Week.

The collection is a reconnection to the brand's roots. Creative Director Richard Jarman felt that being homebound over the last year was a realignment for COMMAS’ core values that reflect the entirely unique Australian lifestyle.

It ushers in the return of many of the brand’s signature motifs. The hand-painted silks and textural linens wisped gently in the ocean breeze as waves lapped at the model’s feet along the beach shoreline.

Jarman also introduces womenswear into the brand and it fits seamlessly into COMMAS’ DNA. It finds the perfect balance between feminine and resort while still reflecting the cuts and fabrics that the brand is world-renown for.

High waisted briefs signal that they’re here to stay as they feature in a muted green. The softness in colour and tonality creates a beautiful cohesion across the entire collection. It acts as a nod towards one of Jarman’s influences, 20th-century modernist painter Milton Avery.

What speaks on its own the most is when a menswear brand plays with silhouettes. The loose-fitting trousers with soft shoulder tailoring cinched at the waist with a tie denotes the future of Australian Men’s fashion.

On what was an inescapable cold morning, the salty ocean haze and crisp air made COMMAS SS22 feel nostalgic. We found ourselves having a sentimental longing for sun-kissed skin because, in case you didn’t know, there is no place quite like Australia in summer.
