On the evening of September 18th, 2023, the Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge served as the venue for an extraordinary event, as BOND OFFICIAL made a grand debut on London’s legendary social scene. BOND OFFICIAL’s maiden voyage across the Atlantic was perfectly timed to be a crescendo to the iconic London Fashion Week and rounded off the festival in consummate style.
A warm and intimate celebration of style, culture, and the finer things in life soon ensued. Sette London, The Macallan, and BOND came together in perfect harmony to create an atmosphere and occasion that will long be remembered by London society.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted by BOND OFFICIAL’s Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Igee Okafor, who welcomed them with his trademark warmth and a stunning Macallan whisky sour. The demure lighting and impeccable service in the Sette bar set the tone for the beautiful celebration ahead.
As the bar began to fill and proceedings began to warm up, sustenance arrived in the form of sumptuous Irish oysters, perfectly paired with Italian sparkling wine and those delightful Macallan cocktails. An international collective of polymaths from the creative industries were then guided into the understated luxury of Sette’s private dining room. Regular and longstanding friends of BOND, including always-stylish model and creative Steve Gonzalez, the superbly chic Delanique Millwood, and charismatic Alioune Badara, represented the eclectic crackle of New York City nightlife and were joined by locally-based luminaries such as sustainable fashion champions Brett and Scott Staniland, musician Sam Way and model Mathias Le Fèvre.
After a heartfelt toast by Igee Okafor – naturally, with Macallan 15 Year Old – the meal officially got underway. At the soirée, the undisputed star of the show was the Macallan 15 Years Double Cask, masterfully paired with an exquisite selection from the Sette London menu. Guests savored a tantalizing Crudo Tasting, followed by the divine Ravioli Cacio e Pepe, the sumptuous Pastrami Rib Eye, and a delightful John Dory with clams. The menu paid homage to the newly launched New York Nights concept, oozing the undeniable chicness of Manhattan.
As the night unfolded, the ambiance swelled with nostalgia, accompanied by the subtle symphony of vanilla, toffee, and fruit notes echoing from the Scotch Whisky. These notes were the ideal complement to the conviviality of longstanding and newfound companions, all sharing a profound appreciation for the harmonious blend of this Scotch Whisky masterpiece, aged in the finest American and European oak sherry-seasoned casks.
Over the next 2 hours and more and four courses of exceptional food, friendships old and new were forged and strengthened. An atmosphere of warmth and collaboration enveloped the room, and the creative energy filling the space was palpable. Midnight rolled around too soon, and after a few more drams and with some grand plans concocted for future projects, proceedings drew to their natural conclusion.
As the group dispersed into the crisp London night, a sense of genuine camaraderie could be detected. A BOND event is about shared passion, about people from all walks of life coming together to forge new bonds and develop new and exciting projects together. To be able to take that philosophy to an international arena is an exciting moment. After the success of this first edition at Bulgari London, it is bound to be a moment that is repeated time and time again.
