Tumi Hosts Intimate Dinner in Celebration of Its New Fragrance, ATLAS

It’s a bright, clean, almost-citrusy tone.

This is the smell of early mornings. That eye-opening shower after hot yoga and swimming laps.

2 MINS READ TIME

Stepping into the elevator 101 floors below Peak New York, I was instantly surrounded in a bright white light by three floor-to-ceiling LED walls. Sketches began appearing, first in black in white and filled in with color, as the Manhattan skyline emerged from the venue’s enviable vantage point.

It felt as though I glided through the generously spacious restaurant, catching glimpses of people celebrating life’s biggest moments atop the Manhattan skyline, as I was shown to the private dining room where Tumi was celebrating its Fourth fragrance.

The palatial doors opened and I was swiftly handed an old fashioned—mixed just right—taking a moment to process such a theatrical and intimate scene.

Two expansive dining tables were situated between a floor-to-ceiling glass wine cellar to the left. And to the right, a foggy impression of The Edge observatory. There was something funny about peering down from above The Edge—observing the observatory, if you will.

First greeted by the creative director of Tumi, Victor Sanz dressed in head to toe Helmut Lang, it was intriguing getting to know the mind behind Tumi’s iconic designs.

In collaboration with Fragrance Group, they proudly presented their fourth fragrance—and I’ll venture a guess this won’t be the last.

Futuristic textures adorn Alioune Fall and the ever-preppy Caleb Thill in a timeless Ami Paris sweater. And our Editor In Chief, Igee Okafor, brought it home with a fitted, light suede coat—spring, at last.

The fragrance. I’m sure you’re wondering about the notes from top to bottom. It’s a bright, clean, almost-citrusy tone. This is the smell of early mornings. That eye-opening shower after hot yoga and swimming laps. Your inertia in a bottle to be invested in and present for the day ahead. The locking mechanism atop the chrome bottle has a thoughtful architecture to it which really speaks to what Tumi knows best—sleek and tough hardware.

The conversation of the evening among creators was aspirational, exploring what they’re building this year—magazines, clothing, NFT’s, and the like. You stand taller. You speak up. You reach higher. You love harder—not just with others, but within yourself. You might even say that fragrance brings together life’s smallest and biggest moments into the semblance of an Atlas, for a life in forward motion.
