When it comes to decorating your home for the holidays, it’s like this: Like we do with clothing, good decoration comes from drawing inspiration from appealing content derived from personal inspiration and interests. Whether it's a styling concept in a magazine, a friend's sense of style, a TV show character or a piece of artwork. If the presentation makes you remember it for future reference, lock it in.
Aligned with this impression of design is New York City’s Upper East Side Holiday House. Since collaborating with distinguished interior designers and home brands for a showcase in 2008, renovating the art of interior design has been paramount in the existence of the show house. That is, in addition to benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
For the showcase, a number of designers are chosen to redesign the 12,000 square ft residence previously home to the Chinese Institute. This year, it was a total of 15 skilled designers reimagined each room in the townhouse.
With luxury brands like Tiffany & Co. and Jimmy Choo included in the line up that is nothing sort of grandiose, we’ve been inspired to elevate our holiday design eye a bit in both small scale and larger ways.
Here are three rooms from the lineup we’re drawing inspiration from to help us achieve the perfect holiday setting.
Bjorn Bjornsson Interior Design
This design scheme makes for the ultimate master bedroom layout. The mixture of prominent clean whites and bright pops of color complement the maximalist nature of the room’s furnishings. It’s as if you’ve been transported to the South of France on an airy summer day but with a modern touch - see the metallic ceiling painting for example. While lemon yellow is an unpopular choice, it works for the remembrance and joy the holiday season brings.
Ally Coulter Designs
The quintessential holiday room for the elegant and cosmopolitan - yes, Murano accent pieces and fabrics from Scalamandré and Dedar are on sight. There’s so much detail and incorporation of cultural influences which is why it stands so tall. The signature Tiffany’s blue contrasting against the gold drapery is one plush move to not make note of. Just like the holidays, there’s nothing minimal about this room. Simply sophisticated.
Jasmine Lam Interior Design & Architecture
What we love the most about the room is its obvious value for modern art. Jeff Muhs, Emma Donnersberg, James Austin, and more. With the inclusion of other furnishings like the signature Hermès blanket, and Holland & Sherry textiles, by all standards, this room meets the definition of what we at BOND OFFICIAL see as modern luxury. The emphasis on natural light, minimal ceiling work and luxurious adorning from the world’s finest furnishings make it so.
