Todd Snyder's Retro Inspired FW19 Collection At New York Fashion Week: Men's

On the evening of New York Men’s Day, the fashion industry was transported into Todd Snyder’s version of the 1970s American childhood memory. Todd Snyder took us down memory lane with rainbow neon lights illuminating the runway, classic plaid trousers, Corduroy pink suiting, leather trench-coats, and a mix of blue and mustard turtlenecks. Even though the 1970s style served as a big inspiration for many of the FW19 men’s collection in New York this season, Snyder really impressed us with some of his key looks.
Every look on the runway hinted a retro vibe, and nostalgia ran deep in the details. Though we were awed by the colors, textures, and patterns by each clothing, we wanted to hear from the designer himself about what sparked such a well executed collection.
Todd Snyder told BOND OFFICIAL, “the collection dials back to the 1970s, and reminisces on my childhood as an American when things were much cooler and more funky. I played with greens and bright pink, and it was all meant to be thrift store chic. There’s a lot of texture: suede, leather, corduroy, and wool. Corduroy is the fabric of the season, everything from puffer jackets and pink corduroy. The creative process [for the collection] started a year ago, looking at what was happening in fashion, and thrift store finds. Piecing together eclectic colors, mixing tweeds and wool, goat suede and shearling, sort of mix and match in a thoughtful way.”
